How approvals work

Every transaction and important change in Hex Safe goes through two checks:

  1. The person who starts it confirms it in their Hex Safe Mobile App.
  2. The required number of approvers approve it in their own mobile app.

No third party can bypass this process.

Who starts and who approves

Request Started by Approved by
Withdrawals, staking, and dApp transactions via WalletConnect Initiator Approver
Adding, editing or deactivating users Admin Admin Approver
Changing the Admin Quorum Admin Admin Approver
Counterparty Book and whitelisting changes Admin or Initiator Admin Approver

See User Roles for everything each role can do.

How many approvals are needed

Approvals use a quorum: at least t approvers out of the n possible approvers must approve a request.

  • Vault requests, such as withdrawals, follow the vault's approval scheme, set up when the vault is created.
  • Enterprise-wide and admin requests follow the enterprise approval scheme and the Admin Quorum. Admins can change the Admin Quorum in Settings › Admin Quorum. It can't exceed the number of Admin Approvers who have paired the mobile app. See Manage users.

To change a vault's approval scheme, contact clients@hextrust.com. See Enterprise and vault approval schemes.

Approve or reject a request

  1. Open your Hex Safe Mobile App and make sure you're signed in.
  2. Find the pending request and review it carefully.
  3. Tap Approve or Reject.

On the web, requests waiting for an Approver appear under Pending Approval in Active Transactions.

When withdrawals need approval

  • Safe vaults that have an approval scheme set up in the Hex Safe Mobile App.
  • All Safe Plus vaults.

Safe Plus vaults: release by Hex Trust

Withdrawals from Safe Plus vaults are released manually by Hex Trust after approval. When your enterprise is set up, you can make verification calls mandatory for every Safe Plus withdrawal. If you opt in, the assigned people schedule a call with the Hex Trust Client Operations team. They quote the verification code from their scheduling confirmation email to prove their identity.
