How does it work?
Data diodes operate on the principle of "one-way" communication by physically separating the transmitting and receiving networks. A data diode consists of two separate optical circuits: one for send-only data, and one receive-only data. This physical separation restricts the transfer of data to only one direction, either to or from the air-gap network.
This technology almost completely eliminates the risk of unauthorized access, malware propagation, or data exfiltration, which is why it is highly favored in critical infrastructure, such as intelligence and military environments.
